Helicopters and the Gospel

camp

Camp Carl has been a busy place this summer. The first four weeks have been packed full of campers enjoying helicopters rides, tubing, horseback riding--along with trying to stay cool during the summer heat. This week has marked the midway point of the summer. Please continue to pray for the ministry at Camp Carl. camp

Kids are having fun at camp, but our goal is to communicate the message of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice and how he gives hope to all who trust him. Just last week, I talked with a counselor who was very excited about a camper who was interested in putting his trust in Jesus Christ. This was the first time he heard the message of the gospel and embraced it with open arms. Please pray for Seth who trusted in Christ for the first time!

The third week of camp we were all challenged by the people from JAARS (Jungle Aviation and Radio Service) and what God is doing through their ministry. Yes the kids enjoyed a helicopter ride, but they also were able to hear a powerful testimony from Nard. Listen for yourself about the powerful work of God’s Word.

Here are a few prayer quotes from the campers that week:
I’m praying to You that the missionaries will get to these places and teach people of Christ.

This week going up in the helicopter was amazing! As I was up in the sky, I had an ‘AWWWE’ moment where I realized what an amazing Creator You really are.

Your prayers are appreciated as we continue to provide an excellent camp experience for people to discover Christ and make a difference in their world.

Camp Carl camp

Why would the members of The Chapel purchase a piece of land, some cabins, and a lodge in the township of Edinburg back in 1964? The individuals who gave generously on a Sunday evening to acquire the property in Ravenna (what we now call Camp Carl) had hopes that the property would be used as a tool to communicate the message of Jesus Christ.

Our prayer today is the same. The desire of the Camp Carl staff is to provide an excellent camp experience that allows people to discover Jesus Christ and make a difference in their world. Will you support this ministry in prayer as we work to continue the vision and legacy of Camp Carl?

Last year over 1450 camper registrations were processed so that young people could enjoy a camp experience. Over 31,000 meals were served to campers and staff. Over 2,000 trail rides were facilitated. The summer staff planned hundreds of chapel times and Bible studies that shared the truth of God’s Word. During the month of May, we ask for extra giving to support the ministry of Camp Carl so that we can continue to provide these opportunities. Will you give financially to help?

We would also ask you to look at the opportunities to serve at camp. There is always a need to help with registration 3:30 – 6:30pm on Sundays. Fridays during the summer, individuals have blessed the food service staff by helping in the kitchen. Ministry groups (HABF, ABF, etc.) have supported the summer staff that gives generously of their time to communicate the Love of Christ through our adopt-a-cabin program. Will you consider serving in this way?

The theme for this summer is “Transformation,” focused on 2 Corinthians 5:16-21. Please join us in praying that God transforms hearts this summer at Camp Carl.
